As a part of various activities for achieving the objectives of Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission with regard to deploying rooftop Solar installations on domestic and commercial buildings, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 17th September, 2013.
The MoU was signed by Shri Atulya Kumar Naik, Addl. GM (PS), SECI & Shri S. K. Sakhuja, Company Secretary, DMRC, in the presence of Shri Tarun Kapoor, MD, SECI and Shri Mangu Singh, MD, DMRC.
The MoU envisages collaboration in the areas of grid-connected rooftop PV systems on metro stations and other buildings, for which SECI may organize 30% subsidy support from MNRE, and also ground-mounted PV systems in the surplus lands available with DMRC. The two organizations will also endeavour to collaborate in implementing integrative roof-top solutions - also known as building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPV) as a pilot project on a select building. These projects will become a model and open up immense possibilities for promotion of Solar energy and reduction of carbon footprint throughout India.
