SECI and PFC sign MoU for installation of Solar Streetlights in Jharkhand

Solar Energy Corporation of India to install solar street lights in the remote villages of Jharkhand with PFC’s CSR fund
As a part of various activities for achieving objectives of National Solar Mission with regard to providing energy access in remote villages of the State of Jharkhand, Power Finance Corporation Ltd. (PFC) and Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 30th July, 2013.
The MoU was signed by the Senior Officials of PFC and SECI in the presence of Shri Ratan P. Watal, Secretary, MNRE; Shri Tarun Kapoor, Joint Secretary, MNRE & Managing Director, SECI and Shri M.K. Goyal, Director (Commercial), PFC.
The MoU envisages installation of 500 street lights in the seven blocks of district Bokaro, Jharkhand for which PFC will be providing upto 70% of the project cost under CSR and SECI will organize 30% subsidy from MNRE. The project will be implemented by SECI. Successful completion of this cooperation will open up new vistas of such initiatives.

Solar Energy Corporation of India(SECI) was set up on 20th September 2011, as a not-for-profit company under Section-25 of the Companies Act 1956 as an implementation and facilitation institution dedicated to Solar Energy sector. SECI is established under the administrative control of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Government of India. Mandate of SECI allows wide ranging activities to be undertaken with an overall view to facilitate implementation of Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission and achieving the targets set therein.
Presently, SECI is engaged in wide-ranging activities for the development and deployment in the area of solar energy, such as, 750 of Phase-II grid-connected solar power projects, pilot scheme on grid-connected solar roof-tops in the country, pilot CSP projects, besides solar parks, mini/micro-grids etc.
